Will Sarri be at Chelsea next season?

Maurizio Sarri has claimed he is already planning for Chelsea’s next pre-season despite uncertainty surrounding his position at the club.

The Italian boss was brought in from Napoli at the beginning of the season and was expected to get Chelsea moving forward again.

However, his ‘Sarri-ball’ style that worked so well in Italy has provided more problems than solutions.

With several poor results and Chelsea’s season slowly petering out, Sarri’s future is very much under the microscope.

Despite that, Sarri has claimed on Wednesday that he is already in talks over Chelsea’s next pre-season.

‘We were talking about the problem of the next pre-season’

The Italian boss explained that he and the club are already trying to plan pre-season despite questions over his future.

‘We were talking about the problem of the next pre-season,’ Sarri explained, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

‘So we were trying to organise in the best way the next pre-season.’

Though, when asked further about his future, he refused to be drawn in.

‘Of course, the situation is not easy,’ Sarri continued.

‘We are in Chelsea. We need to win something. But the players are not very, very difficult to manage at all.

‘I have said it’s not important if I’m here next season. At this moment, it’s important only the results.

‘In this moment, the Dynamo Kiev game is everything. I am confident otherwise I won’t be able to do my work.

‘I have to think this [that I will be here next season] if I want to do my job in the next way.’

  1. This is a great article, and it has to be said, that Maurizzio Sarri probably is planning for Chelsea for next season, which would obviously include Pre~Season

Admittedly it has been hard to watch Chelsea at times this season as he tries to Implement the so called SARRI Ball on the players. That shouldn’t be too hard to do and when it works, it can be very effective for sure, as can be seen from clips of watching Napoli play last season

the 4-3-3 Formation Sarri favours is also supposed to be one of the easiest to learn and implement ( well football after all is a simple game, overcomplicated by tactics at times, but the essence is you go up as a team, you defend as a team

Given that his fairly rigid style of wanting to play this formation and system, has not produced great results, coupled with the situation at Wembley with Kepa Arrizabalanga refusing to come off, it would have been thought that perhaps Sarris time at Chelsea could have been up and perhaps that might be so

However, he might have won an unlikely stay of Execution, with Chelsea having been hit by a two transfer window ban on signing any new players, because with any potential change of manager, inevitably comes a 2 or 3 player spine of a team to make their ideas work, this would greatly impact the names currently floating in the rumour mill as to who could take over

The next two transfer window bans, include the crucial summer transfer window, so it is probaly better to stick with Sarri, through default, as opposed to anything else and see if he can implement his style on Chelsea

What is for sure, when Sarri ball is done well it is very exciting to watch
