Marko Arnautovic injury update before West Ham vs Arsenal

West Ham vs Arsenal

Round 22 of the Premier League kicks off with West Ham hosting Arsenal at the London Stadium on Saturday.

West Ham have slid down the table in recent weeks following league defeats to Watford and Burnley plus a 2-2 draw with Brighton.

The Hammers are tenth in the Premier League with 28 points.

As for Arsenal, they are fifth in the division with 41 points.

Following a 5-1 battering at Liverpool, Arsenal have rebounded with a 4-1 win over Fulham and a 3-0 win at Blackpool in the FA Cup.

Marko Arnautovic injury update

West Ham’s last match was the 2-0 FA Cup win at the London Stadium over Birmingham.

Irons fans were given a scare after 20 minutes of that match as Marko Arnautovic exited the game with an injury.

Austrian attacker Arnautovic appeared to pull up in some form of discomfort with his back.

So will Arnautovic be fit for Arsenal?

According to the Times on Thursday the forecast is positive:

Pellegrini dismissed Arnautovic’s angry reaction to being substituted after 20 minutes of Saturday’s FA Cup third-round tie at home to Birmingham City, having scored the opening goal in a 2-0 win.

Arnautovic is expected to return for Saturday’s Premier League game at home to Arsenal.

Arnautovic’s China offer

It’s also been revealed this week that Arnautovic is the subject of a transfer bid from China.

The Times report that an unspecified Chinese Super League club is ready to spend 35 million pounds on the West Ham striker.

One would assume that Arnautovic is concurrently being offered a big pay-packet to move from the Premier League.

Yet West Ham are refusing to consider any offer for their forward, who is under contract until 2021.
