Everton’s Marco Silva hit with improper conduct charge following Newcastle

The FA have confirmed that Everton manager Marco Silva has been sanctioned, after confronting referee Lee Mason following his side’s defeat at Newcastle over the weekend.

Newcastle 3-2 Everton

The Toffees travelled to St. James’ Park for a Premier League meeting with Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

And, with 45 minutes gone on Tyneside, things were going swimmingly for Marco Silva’s men, as first-half strikes from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison sent Everton into the interval with a 2-goal lead.

However, an incredible second-half turnaround on the part of the hosts eventually saw Everton slip to a demoralizing 3-2 defeat.

Salomon Rondon set the comeback in motion just past the hour-mark, before a quick-fire Ayoze Perez double inside the closing 10 minutes saw Newcastle secure a crucial 3 points.

Silva left fuming

Newcastle’s winner, however, should not have stood.

When DeAndre Yedlin miscued an effort back into the Everton box in the buildup to Perez’s second of the afternoon, five Magpies’ players were stood in offside positions.

As such, Everton boss Marco Silva was understandably furious in the aftermath of his side’s defeat.

The Portuguese tactician allowed his emotions to get the better of him, though, racing onto the pitch to confront referee Lee Mason and his team of officials following the full-time whistle.
