Man United to battle Atletico Madrid for Konstantinos Manolas

Man United eyeing Manolas

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, via Mundo Deportivo, Man United and Atletico Madrid are the two sides most likely to sign Roma defender, Konstantinos Manolas.

Atletico could be set to lose Diego Godin in the summer with the 33-year-old being linked with a move to Inter Milan and will, therefore, need to find a replacement.

Manolas reportedly has a release clause of around €36m and is open to a new challenge.

The centre-back joined Roma in 2014 for a fee in the region of £13.5m.

Manolas has gone on to make 200 appearances across all competitions for the Serie A outfit, scoring eight and assisting seven in that time.

Man United set to spend big in the summer

The Greek defender was also linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer.

As well as Manolas, United are seemingly going to attempt to sign a fair few players this summer.

According to the Evening Standard, Man United want Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Kalidou Koulibaly.

While United could perhaps survive without Sancho and Fernandes, the weakest area of their side is arguably the centre-back area.

As a result, signing either Koulibaly or Manolas would be a wise choice this summer.

Manolas may prove to be a wiser purchase though. Because as mentioned above, the Roma defender is said to have a relatively low release clause of €36m.

Koulibaly, on the other hand, would reportedly cost Man United upwards of £75m.
